Kanazawa City, where is the capital of Ishikawa Prefecture
as well as a center of Hokuriku area, was developed after
Maeda family, which had a huge territory around Hokuriku area,
                    started ruling here.
kanazawa is also known for traditional precision handcraft.

Kanazawa Castle was built around 1580 by Toshi-ie Maeda, who
was ruling here at that time. This castle which was designed
by Ukon Takayama, who was considered as a master of Castle
design, used to be a fabulous castle, but unfortunately, several
fire caused a huge loss of parts or buildings of Kanazawa
castle. It has also lost main buildings which is called "ten
shu kaku" in 1602 because of lightning. |

                      An initial construction of
Kenroku En started in 1687 by Tsunanori Maeda. It had been
lost once in 1759 by major fire but it restored by Harunaga
Maeda. Since then, a construction was underway and became
the one we see now. Nowadays, Kenroku En attracts many people
as a one of three best Japanese Traditional Garden in Japan.
It has many faces as a season goes by.

                     Higashi Chaya Machi took a
important role of helping travelers to Kanazawa from about
250 years ago. It was developed as a resting place. Still
now, there are many Japanese buildings remaining in Higashi
Chaya Machi and around there. It would be the best for hiking.

Okay, here is some extra stuff.
I had a Sashimi and Rice Bowl called "Kaisen Don"
at Ohmi Ichiba (market) on a way from Kanazawa Station to
Kanazawa Castle. Take a closer look! How much do you see
                      sashimi on the bowl!?
It cost about 2000 yen but free rice refill, well not
                        sashimi.
"Gochisou Sama"....the words we say after finishing
                        a meal.
